More ASUS motherboards shipped with onboard Linux

By Tim Quax on 20 may 2008

ASUS has announced to deliver onboard Linux on the P5Q motherboards, doing so in cooperation with DeviceVM.

The splashtop software (ASUS calls it "Express Gate"), can boot within a few seconds and grants access to the internet.

Splashtop runs from the flash memory on the motherboard itself, it was used as early as in 2007, where it was shipped with some high-end ASUS motherboards. It's a great invention, using Linux to it's full potential, being the lightweight platform that it is.

The P5Q Deluxe, P5Q-WS, P5W3 Deluxe en P5Q-E are also waiting in the Onboard Linux queue.
