Visual Studio add-on for .NET apps on Linux

By Tim Quax on 13 november 2009

Novell has launched a new add-on for Visual Studio for Mono. The add-on will allow Windows developers to test, debug and deploy their .NET apps on a Linux platform. This could boost the availability of .NET apps on the open source operating system.

Mono is an open source implementation of the .NET runtime, making it possible to run .NET software on the Linux platform. Though it doesn't support everything .NET has to offer, it does make most applications available on Linux. Novell's Mono Tools for Visual Studio (MonoVS) will help to lower the barrier and simplify the process.
