Hackers demonstrate rootkit software for Android through DEF CON

By Tim Quax on 01 august 2010

The hackers demonstrated a tool which can give the culprit total and complete control over the Android phone. After the presentation on DEF CON the rootkit software was released on DVD to be distributed among visitors.

That's hilarious. A really stylish thing to do. According to Nicholas Percoco, one of the creators of the rootkit, it wasn't hard to build at all. It took his team about two weeks. Percoco showed off his trick on a Desire and a Legend, but it should work on far more Android phones. A quote from the man behind the malicious software:

"We could be doing what we want to do and there is no clue that we are there,", says Percoco.

Sounds good. I don't know about you, but I can't wait for the dude that puts that DVD online so I can pull it in!
