LaCie brings an indestructable USB stick to the table

By Tim Quax on 14 july 2010

LaCie announced a USB stick which is supposed to withstand the most extreme situations. That's where it's witty name "XtremKey" kicks in, with the usual typo's of course.

The casing for this new usb stick consists of 2mm thick metal, which has the USB connection inside. The used metal is an alloy of zink, aluminum, magnesium and copper, and is sealed off with a rubber O-ring.

It's read/write speads are 40 and 30 mbps respectively. The drive will be available from 8GB to 64GB, of which the smallest will cost 50 euro's. The USB stick will be available in august, and i'll be there to test it.
